Silence Was…

Silence Was… a dream and is now the product of a dream. Designer Yujia Wang graduated from the Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology in 2007 with an Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design and Technology and a desire to create pieces that make women feel confident and comfortable. 
 
Silence Was... is now a tangible thing, a label of her own that she can hold in her own hands, hang on coat hangers, and see worn by strangers in the streets.
 
Yujia believes that following this path is the most important thing she can do. She’s doing what she loves and taking full control of her dream, taking responsibility for the creative, technical, and business components of Silence Was.
 
Before launching her label in July 2011, Yujia worked for labels NG, Adidas, and Karen Walker and her time with these established names has enabled Yujia to gain the industry experience needed to build her own successful label.
 
The tangibility of Silence Was is an important facet of the label. Silence Was is defined by the touch and feel of the fabric, and the clean, simple cuts. “I think it's putting art into our lives,” Yujia explains.

Like a piece of art, garments from this label are designed to be around until time tears them apart.
